In a step towards bridging the academic-industry gap in the tourism and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sectors, the Network of Indian MICE Agents (NIMA) and Jaipuria School of Business (JSB) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The agreement, formalized on May 28, 2025, seeks to align academic learning with the evolving demands of the MICE industry.

The partnership aims to provide JSB students specializing in tourism and hospitality with exposure to real-world practices in the MICE domain. Through this collaboration, students will gain access to industry-relevant training, live projects, internships, and skill-enhancement sessions led by professionals. In addition to student-centric initiatives, the MoU outlines provisions for faculty development and joint research, aiming to strengthen the academic ecosystem’s understanding of current industry trends.

The MoU was signed in the presence of key representatives from both institutions. On behalf of JSB, Dr. Rajiv R. Thakur (Director General), Dr. Tapan K. Nayak (Dean), Dr. Nitin K. Saxena, Dr. Namita Nath, and Dr. Monika Aggarwal were present. Representing NIMA were Mr. Gajesh Girdhar (Founder & Chairman Governing Council), Mr. Rakesh Arora (Founder, Coordinator – Admin, Finance & Membership), and Mr. Vikas Khanduri (Advisor).

This engagement is part of a broader trend where educational institutions are increasingly partnering with industry bodies to prepare students for specific sectors. With the MICE segment emerging as a key pillar of business and tourism in India, stakeholders recognize the need for specialized skill sets that go beyond classroom instruction.

Speaking at the event, both parties highlighted the importance of such partnerships in fostering employability and adaptability among graduates. The collaboration is expected to pave the way for curriculum enrichment and contribute to creating a talent pool that can meet the operational and strategic requirements of the MICE industry.

By focusing on experiential learning and industry engagement, the MoU signifies a move towards a more practice-oriented model of education within the tourism and events management space.
