In a significant development for the global business events ecosystem, the Network of Indian MICE Agents (NIMA) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Russian Union of Travel Industry (RST), marking a major step in strengthening bilateral cooperation between India and Russia in the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector.

The agreement was formalised on the sidelines of ITB Berlin 2026, held at Messe Berlin, Germany, one of the world’s leading B2B travel trade shows that brings together global tourism stakeholders, policymakers, and industry leaders.

With this move, NIMA becomes the first Indian MICE association to establish such a formal partnership with the Russian tourism body, highlighting the growing importance of international collaboration in the business events space. The MOU aims to foster long-term cooperation between Indian and Russian tourism stakeholders, with a focus on promoting tourism, facilitating knowledge exchange, and developing joint initiatives.

The partnership will emphasise the joint development and evaluation of tourism projects, aimed at promoting Russia as a destination in international markets while also creating opportunities for Indian MICE operators to expand their global footprint.

This collaboration is expected to open new avenues for cross-border conferences, incentive travel programmes, and business events, enabling smoother engagement between the two markets. Enhanced cooperation will also support the exchange of expertise in event management, destination promotion, and industry best practices.

ITB Berlin, with participation from over 160 countries and thousands of exhibitors, continues to serve as a critical platform for forging such global alliances and driving industry growth.

As international travel and business events regain momentum, the NIMA–RST partnership is poised to strengthen India’s presence in the global MICE landscape, fostering deeper ties, increased tourism flows, and long-term industry collaboration between the two nations.
