The Busan Exhibition and Convention Centre (BEXCO) officially announced on October 14, 2025, a major strategic expansion across Asia, following the signing of a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with two of Vietnam’s leading MICE and industrial entities: the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Centre (SECC) and Becamex IDC Corporation.
The formal signing ceremony, which marked a new milestone for the MICE industry in ASEAN, took place earlier on September 26, 2025, as part of the ongoing activities celebrating the 30th anniversary of the sister-city relationship between Busan and Ho Chi Minh City.
The strategic partnership is set to combine the strengths of all three organizations. BEXCO, a public organization under the Busan Metropolitan Government, will share its specialized expertise in exhibition facility management, advanced event planning, and fair operations. The SECC, Vietnam’s leading exhibition and convention facility in Ho Chi Minh City, will strengthen bilateral cooperation through personnel exchanges and joint project planning. Becamex IDC, a core enterprise driving Vietnam’s southern economic development, will facilitate joint exhibition projects, particularly at its advanced facility, the World Trade Centre (WTC) Binh Duong New City.
Sohn Soo Deuk, CEO of BEXCO, highlighted that Vietnam is a key partner for the company’s overseas expansion in the convention business, serving as a strategic gateway for accessing the entire ASEAN market. “Through this triple partnership, which follows our successful collaborations with other regional centers, BEXCO aims to solidify its global standing and further champion Busan’s exhibition industry on the international stage,” he stated.
Becamex representatives affirmed the cooperation is an important milestone, laying the groundwork for the newly established Greater Ho Chi Minh City to become an attractive destination for international exhibitions and events, leveraging its strength as an emerging hub for industry, seaports, and services. This agreement marks a significant step toward building a world-class MICE ecosystem and positioning Vietnam as an emerging destination for international exhibitions and events.
