Air India has announced a new codeshare partnership with Latvian flag carrier airBaltic, significantly enhancing connectivity between India and the Baltic region via key European hubs. Under the agreement, Air India places its “AI” flight code on airBaltic-operated services between cities like Riga and major gateways such as Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Milan Malpensa, Vienna, Zurich and London Gatwick, enabling passengers to book seamless single-ticket journeys.

The collaboration builds on an existing interline arrangement initiated in June 2025, further expanding travel options across Northern and Eastern Europe. Beyond Riga, passengers can connect to Tallinn and Vilnius through coordinated services from shared European hubs. This expanded network simplifies travel logistics, offering greater flexibility and convenience for both leisure and business travellers.

Air India’s Chief Commercial Officer, Nipun Aggarwal, highlighted that the partnership reflects the airline’s commitment to enhancing global connectivity. By leveraging airBaltic’s network and Air India’s existing services to Europe, the codeshare agreement supports smoother transfers and enriched travel experiences for customers flying between India and the wider European region.

The enhanced partnership aligns with Air India’s broader global expansion strategy following its privatization, which has seen the airline forge multiple codeshare and interline agreements to broaden its international reach. With flights from India to several major European destinations already in operation, this new arrangement adds depth to route options and helps stimulate tourism, trade and cultural exchange between the regions.

Tickets under the codeshare are now available for booking through both carriers’ platforms and authorised travel agents, offering travellers streamlined options when planning multi-city European journeys. The collaboration underscores a growing trend in the aviation industry toward cooperative network development that benefits passengers with more varied and efficient travel choices.

Overall, the Air India–airBaltic codeshare is expected to make travel between India and the Baltics more accessible and convenient, while strengthening air links across European markets and supporting rising demand for international air travel.
