In a strategic push to deepen economic ties and create fresh export opportunities, MATRADE has spearheaded a “Market Immersion Mission” to Mumbai from 19–21 November 2025, aimed at helping Malaysian mid-tier companies (MTCs) enter India’s rapidly expanding market.

Four carefully selected MTCs – operating across sectors such as professional services, construction & building materials, and franchising – participated in the initiative. The mission seeks to connect these companies with India’s dynamic business ecosystem, unlock new export channels, and improve their visibility across Indian supply chains.

Launched under the umbrella of MATRADE’s Mid-Tier Companies Development Programme (MTCDP), this mission forms part of the “Go-to-Market” phase: a concerted effort to help Malaysian mid-sized enterprises scale up internationally and strengthen their readiness for expansion into major global markets.

During the mission, participants engaged with key Indian business associations such as the Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI), PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Retailers Association of India (RAI), and others, in addition to receiving strategic guidance from partners like Deloitte Consulting and support from the Malaysian Consulate General in Mumbai. The programme also included curated business-matching meetings, pitching sessions, and market-intelligence workshops. Delegates even took part in the 6th World Trade Expo and the 10th Global Economic Summit to boost global branding and explore potential collaborations.

India’s current economic landscape – marked by robust domestic consumption, rapid industrial growth, and favorable policy reforms – makes it an attractive destination for Malaysian exporters. As both nations aim to deepen trade relations and integrate further into regional value chains, this mission provides a strategic platform for Malaysian MTCs to tap into India’s high growth potential.

In essence, this effort underscores MATRADE’s commitment to positioning Malaysia as a competitive and reliable supplier on the global stage. By facilitating such business immersion programmes, the agency seeks to equip mid-sized Malaysian firms with the tools, networks, and insights needed to succeed in one of Asia’s most dynamic economies.
