Drukair, the national airline of Bhutan, signed its first global distribution partnership with Amadeus, a provider of travel technology solutions, on November 17, 2025. This collaboration is designed to enhance Drukair’s international presence and improve access for travelers planning a trip to the remote Himalayan kingdom.

The agreement facilitates the integration of Drukair’s flights and fare inventory into the Amadeus global distribution system (GDS). This makes the airline’s services accessible through the sales terminals utilized by thousands of travel agencies worldwide, increasing the carrier’s visibility to a broader audience.

By leveraging the Amadeus Travel Platform, travel agents globally will be able to access real-time flight schedules, fare data, and availability. This is expected to simplify the process of planning and booking trips to Bhutan, allowing agents to issue tickets directly and create customized flight itineraries for their clients.

This strategic move is part of Drukair’s effort to overcome logistical challenges associated with connecting international travelers to Bhutan. The airline, headquartered at Paro International Airport, currently operates routes that link Bhutan with major cities across Asia, including Bangkok, Delhi, Kathmandu, Singapore, Dhaka, Kolkata, Guwahati, Bagdogra, Bodh Gaya, and Dubai.

In the initial phase, the partnership focuses on key markets with significant potential for outbound tourism to Bhutan. Travel agents in ten countries – India, Thailand, Singapore, Nepal, Bangladesh, the UAE, Australia, the UK, Germany, and France –will be the first to gain access to Drukairโ€™s inventory via the Amadeus system. Drukair plans for a further global rollout to additional markets in 2026. This collaboration supports the airline’s vision to drive growth and strengthen its position in the international travel market.
