The India Convention Promotion Bureau (ICPB) convened its 38th Annual General Meeting (AGM) at the Taj Palace Hotel in New Delhi, reaffirming its commitment to establishing India as a leading global destination for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE).

Strategic Developments in 2024–25

The fiscal year 2024–25 marked significant progress for ICPB, underscoring its strategic direction and growth:

  • New Governing Board: The election of a new Governing Board and the onboarding of 12 new members strengthened ICPB’s pan-India approach.
  • Active Participation in Global Platforms: ICPB engaged in major national and international platforms, including MICE Conclave 2025, SATTE 2025, IMEX Frankfurt 2025, and BLTM 2025.
  • International Meetings Secured: India secured 141 international meetings in the year, as per the International Congress and Convention Association, reflecting India’s 28th worldwide ranking in 2024—a commendable position in the Asia-Pacific region.

Vision for the Future

ICPB Vice Chairman, Mr. Chander Mansharamani, emphasized the bureau’s focus on enhancing engagement and visibility for India’s MICE sector. He highlighted the successful completion of ICPB’s first training program and announced that the next session in November would focus on “Marketing India as a Convention Destination” and the Bidding Process.

Mr. Mansharamani reiterated ICPB’s commitment to upskilling, advocacy, and aggressive marketing, in alignment with the Ministry of Tourism, to drive India into the Top 20 MICE destinations globally.

Collaborative Efforts and Initiatives

The AGM underscored the importance of collaboration between ICPB, the Ministry of Tourism, and state governments to create a robust ecosystem for the MICE industry. Discussions centered on enhancing infrastructure, promoting regional MICE hubs, and developing training programs to build a skilled workforce.

ICPB’s initiatives aim to position India as a competitive player in the global MICE market, leveraging its rich cultural heritage, diverse destinations, and growing infrastructure to attract international conventions and exhibitions.
