To build a top-notch convention and cultural center in Nagpur, the Maharashtra government announced a strategic partnership with Fira Barcelona International, a Spanish leader in trade show and venue management.

At the Chief Minister’s home in Mumbai, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on October 10, 2025. The agreement between Fira Barcelona International and the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) was formally signed. The building is designed to be a high-end venue for academics, conventions, exhibitions, and culture.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Spanish Ambassador to India Juan Antonio were present at the signing ceremony. Senior state representatives, Nagpur District Collector Vipin Itankar, and Fira Barcelona CEO Ricard Zapatero were also present.

Chief Minister Fadnavis outlined a comprehensive plan for the project, emphasizing that all forms of transportation must connect the site seamlessly. He ordered that the center actively serve as a cultural center that tells the rich history of Nagpur, going beyond its role as a location for business gatherings. Mr. Fadnavis underlined that the facility’s design needs to be innovative in terms of technology, visually appealing, and an excellent example of environmentally friendly building practices.

Ambassador Juan Antonio commended the expanding India-Spain relationship, pointing out that Prime Ministers Pedro Sánchez and Narendra Modi are leading the charge. He acknowledged India’s successful use of artificial intelligence and contemporary technology to bring about constructive change, which is becoming more and more well-known worldwide. The ambassador went on to say that Spain sees Maharashtra as an essential partner for future cooperation, with Mumbai emerging as a major South Asian hub.

Through this partnership, Nagpur’s reputation as a hub for global trade and cultural exchange is expected to grow.
