The Global Conclave on Plastics Recycling and Sustainability (GCPRS), jointly organized by the All India Plastics Manufacturers’ Association (AIPMA) and the Chemicals and Petrochemicals Manufacturers’ Association (CPMA), is currently underway at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. Bringing together representatives from across the plastics and petrochemicals sectors, the event serves as a platform for serious dialogue on the challenges and opportunities in transitioning toward a more sustainable model of plastic use and waste management.

The exhibition comes at a time when India generates approximately 3.4 million tonnes of plastic waste annually, with less than one-third currently being recycled. This situation underscores the scale of untapped potential in plastic recovery and reuse. The Conclave addresses the broader implications of plastic overproduction, environmental degradation, and the growing impact of microplastic pollution—issues that require immediate and coordinated action.

At the core of GCPRS is the effort to bridge the gap between policy and practice. With frameworks like Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) gaining traction and governments increasingly implementing plastics packaging regulations, there is a growing push to improve transparency and accountability across the plastic value chain. GCPRS brings stakeholders—ranging from recyclers and manufacturers to policymakers and solution providers—into the same space to examine these developments and assess collective progress.

The event’s exhibition floor showcases a variety of technologies and sustainable materials, including biodegradable plastics, advanced recycling systems, and innovative waste processing solutions. This allows businesses and innovators to exchange ideas, explore real-world applications, and assess scalable solutions that address India’s and the world’s plastic waste challenges.

Running alongside the exhibition is the International Conference on Circular Economy and Plastics Recycling Technologies, where sessions focus on policy innovation, material science breakthroughs, and circular economy models aimed at reducing waste and rethinking product lifecycles.

GCPRS is positioned not just as an industry event, but as part of a wider effort to reimagine the role of plastics in a sustainable economy. It reflects an increasing recognition of the need for long-term, systems-level changes in how plastic is produced, used, and recovered.
