The Indian Association of Amusement Parks and Industries (IAAPI) held its board meeting on June 16, 2025, bringing together key members to deliberate on the future direction of India’s amusement and attractions industry. The meeting focused on policy alignment, infrastructure growth, and industry-wide collaboration to address current challenges and lay the groundwork for sustainable development.

Held against the backdrop of a fast-evolving leisure landscape, the session emphasized the need for cohesive action on regulatory matters, safety standards, and the expansion of amusement infrastructure in both urban and regional areas. The board acknowledged that while the sector has witnessed steady recovery post-pandemic, several structural and operational hurdles continue to restrict its full potential.

High on the agenda were discussions around the need for a unified policy framework that recognizes amusement parks and allied attractions as part of the broader tourism and infrastructure ecosystem. The association also stressed the importance of state-level engagement to ensure consistent licensing norms, tax rationalization, and inclusion of the industry in tourism promotion initiatives.

Further, the board explored strategies for capacity building, with a focus on training and certification programs aimed at enhancing safety, service quality, and operational efficiency. Another area of focus was enabling access to technology and innovation for mid-sized and emerging amusement businesses across India.

In the coming months, IAAPI aims to consolidate feedback from its members and industry stakeholders to develop a white paper outlining key policy recommendations and growth enablers. The board also expressed intent to enhance industry engagement through seminars, workshops, and collaboration with international bodies.

While the Indian amusement industry has immense potential to serve both domestic and international audiences, the board underscored the need for sustained government support and public-private partnerships to elevate the sector’s global competitiveness.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to aligning efforts across the industry and working collaboratively to shape a robust ecosystem for safe, accessible, and high-quality recreational experiences in India.
